Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

And this is the final result and ready to go back in the car! Except right now it's frigid cold, so it will be awhile before I get it all back in the car, but I think everything turned out pretty good. Still debating on keeping my non-functional CRTs or just going ahead and putting LCDs in. Not sure...

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

This design allows me to not have to cut the back of the pod out at all. Originally I was going to have two countersunk screws in the back, but I ended up only being able to use one on each side due to the other screw would have been exposed in the side curve and not work very well, so after determi...

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

Back to the PODS. Finally finished this up and it was not easy. I have a ridiculous amount of time in creating this, but it turned out exceptional I think. So after some thinking and more thinking and searching, I found out you can buy electrical red fiberglass in varying thicknesses and sizes. So, ...

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

The last thing I've done so far is light up the lower console. The 5 red and green I have came with a breadboard to simplify wiring. I had to section the breadboard for better fitment, but it worked out good. All switches are wired to a single power and ground cable. The 4 white rockers are always l...

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

Next up is the cluster connections and building my molex connector. This takes patience. I bought a special tool for crimping the pins. https://s9.postimg.org/86po4lvn3/IMG_3938_640x480.jpg https://s9.postimg.org/fmoxqftn3/IMG_3939_640x480.jpg https://s9.postimg.org/9yimzjx0f/IMG_3941_640x480.jpg ht...

WOW, I was stunned! I played wit...

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

Here I'm finishing up all of the basic wiring, double and triple checking my connections and preparing for a power test only, no cluster yet. https://s9.postimg.org/8jh2ae0xr/IMG_3924_640x480.jpg https://s9.postimg.org/h1qieqf67/IMG_3925_640x480.jpg https://s9.postimg.org/5pdwwye73/IMG_3926_640x480....

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

On to the PANPs. I was originally going to solder these connections, but I happened across some connectors that are 7/64" and they fit the terminals of the PANPs perfectly. This does two things, first it makes wiring easier, but the real benefit is if a switch ever goes bad or a bulb burns out,...

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

And so the wiring begins. Of course the wiring between the boards is simple plug and play. https://s9.postimg.org/3tmj8dscv/IMG_3839_640x480.jpg https://s9.postimg.org/cbvzcqm0v/IMG_3840_640x480.jpg This picture is the 15-way molex connector I'm using to connect the instrument cluster and external s...

Re: KentuckyKITT's Season 1/2 Replica

I did have to attach metal brackets to secure the 3-rows and PANP template is attached to the small wood blocks that were already there. https://s9.postimg.org/e3oy7904f/IMG_3814_640x480.jpg All electronics installed and secured to the overlays: https://s9.postimg.org/jrv8y7p27/IMG_3817_640x480.jpg ...
