LED Lights

Postby Rafael » Tue Dec 08, 2015 2:56 pm

No, No, No! I'm a firm believer in the Halogen Scanner...

But, I'm all for the other lights being LED...

Especially the rear tail light, since they will be darkened by Billy's Tail Light Black out...

Check these out...

Stock 1157 bulb on left, JDM Astar 1157 Amber LED (mind you, Billy first season nose with smoked plexi black out...

Image

Stock 1157 rear tail lights on right, JDM Astar 1157 Red LED on left... just parking lights... very noticeable...

Stock 1157 rear tail lights on right, JDM Astar 1157 Red LED on left... Pressing brake pedal... Yes, pattern is not the same, was running turn signal in middle, but moved it to stock location since...
But Note!
The camera itself adjusted the iris due to brightness and everything else is darker in the image... Note how much larger the glowing orange / red is on the led side compared to the right / stock side...

I don't have the license plate light installed yet (this weekend) and I'll also switch out the flasher to an electrical one to work with LED's, since the mechanical one will not work...

Also, I replaced the side marker lights... wow... I don't have a picture, but they lit up the side of the garage in light, as opposed to the stock ones... Better it's seen, the less chance of being hit :)

I bought on the higher end of quality...
They come with a 1 year warranty and are having a 15% off sale, free shipping...

Side Marker, License plate, White, Amber & Yellow

https://www.jdmastar.com/index.php?rout ... ption=true

Front Turn Signal - Amber
3 sets (6 total) for Rear Brake Lights / Turn Signal - Red
https://www.jdmastar.com/index.php?rout ... ption=true

1 set for backup - White
https://www.jdmastar.com/index.php?rout ... ption=true

You need to get a new electrical / led flasher... Here is the one I got, but not yet tested...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/161584413945?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
& you need 2... one for flashers & another for Hazard lights...

Again, they sell cheaper LED's, but they are just that...

You need new LED flashes for it to work properly. And you need two of them. The car has one for your turn signals and another one for your hazard lights. I have the ones I linked above, but if not put them in the car yet. I will be doing that this weekend.

Those LEDs are awesome Raf! I plan to do all of my lights with LEDs with the exception of headlights, fogs and scanner of course.

I'm about with you...
I still have a halogen scanner and fog lights...
I did upgrade my headlights to LED too, they are about 3600 lumnes low, and 4200 high ouput...
I took the car on a trip mid December (4 hour round trip) and the headlights worked good...
I was going to get some work done one LED / Flashers later, and had battery issues... so just got a new one, need to replace it and get them done...

I understand the benefits of an LED scanner, but not worth losing the authentic look for me...

Raf
