December 2013 Progress Updates

Postby Pac-Man » Mon Dec 02, 2013 8:35 am

Ever since we took KITT to the body shop I just have not had the motivation to get out in the garage and work on the smaller projects for KITT. I have been extremely busy at work and have been putting in a lot of extra hours, so that is partially to blame. This will change though as I have a few days of vacation coming up this month and plan to work in the garage then.

I have included links below to the related Project: K.I.T.T. blog posts and videos covering my progress in November.

The big updates for November are bodywork related. Mario really did not find any unexpected surprises and the few areas I was concerned about on the rear quarters ended up being no big deal.

I also got an update from Brenon on my scanner controller. He has been sending some behind the scenes pictures of the build.

I have also purchased the following:

I never did heard back from the guy I bought the t-tops from, so I was still without the proper pin style hardware for them. I did hear back from Shawn (OhioKARR) though and he had located the proper driver side vent I needed along with the hardware for the fan shroud I bought from him before. He wanted to know if I needed anything else before he sent out the parts and I mentioned the t-top hardware...he had some! It all arrived in great shape.

As always pictures, videos and more details of my progress can be found on my blog and YouTube channel. There are links for both in my signature.

Some vid updates from me. Unfortunately My 92 Kitt got ran off the road labor day weekend. So essentially I'm starting all over and switching parts off of the 92 Kitt to my new 90 Formula Kitt. If you have to repaint, why not upgrade right? ;)

What I didn't mention in this video. KITT 1.0 was heavily buffed to get the scratches down to that point. A lot less noticeable now than it was after the wreck.

lol...well I do here and there but not like I used to. Been so many years my interest is slowly going down because of all the problems I have encountered. Oh well, maybe one day.

test fitted my S2 upper console. not screen accurate as I incorporated the eject left/ right display. the 28 row buttons are actually painted keyboard keys. I did not want them to lit up and had no fuction so its the cheap way, but it came out pretty good. otherwise i had to cough up another 170 USD for some buttons. also the 4 led buttons, i made functional:
horn/claxon
trunk release
wiper fluid pump
to change messages on the message center.
next to do is install my lower console buttons which also arrived from jupiter...

I used old computer keyboard buttons on mine. No need in spending all that money for something like that. Mine don't do anything either.

Depends on the miles. I don't really want anything over 100K. I've had enough problems with engines and was wanting rebuilt with low miles or one that was low miles to begin with.

I'll have to see whats on the engine. I'll check the odometer. My GL has had its odometer flipped.. engine still roaring strong. Of course I had it rebuilt. Fresh build on the engine, and you shouldn't have to worry about it. 18 years and still going strong. 8-)
